My favorite (most hated) is "for all intents and purposes".
Yes, indeed. Another "sorry about that" and the ubiquitous, "have a nice day".
"on the ground." Erp. Used by the same people who say "at the end of the day." As in, "At the end of the day, journalistic integrity depends on having people on the ground."
Where the hell else would they be?
Whew! Exactly. And how about "throw him under the bus". ACK! What happened to the integrity of journalism in ANY of its aspects.
