Say Something - An Open Letter
Dear Representative Loebsack,
You probably know already that I vote and encourage others to vote in almost every election. What drives me to election after election as my government sinks ever more deeply into the abyss of FEC authorized graft and greed? Faith. Faith that the representatives for whom I am voting will stand up for progressive ideals in a way that displays courage and commitment.
I am having some difficulty discerning that in the responses I receive from your office. What I see is equivocation. What I feel is something just a little bit different. Just a little bit. I appreciate moderation but every once in awhile I would like to see some outrage. At a time when billionaires and corporations are abrogating our rights on an almost daily basis, I would like for my Representative to be visibly standing in their way; visibly restating some of the profoundest opinions of our founding fathers.
Many, many progressives feel our right to live and prosper in a free society slipping away. We are spied upon, taxed without representation and judged by a Court that might as well be the equivalent of a corporate board.
We want our freedom back and we are willing to hit the streets once again to make that happen. We are angry. We want to make some noise and we want "Mr. Smith" going to Washington, Barney Frank going to Washington, Franklin Roosevelt going to Washington.
Say something, Mr. Loebsack. In this era of hopelessness and lethargy, equivocation is going to get one thing for us. More of the same. Stand for something, Mr. Loebsack, because we are yelling until we're hoarse, from the highest place we can climb, and we are not coming down from there until our righteous rage has made at least one member of Congress turn around and acknowledge that it was us that set you on that road.
Speak up, please.
Addendum: Congressman Loebsack has supported measure after measure in an attempt to bring transparency back to elections. The paucity of expressed outrage is balanced by a consistent record of crafting and co-sponsoring efforts to return ethics to government and to our elections. Search Bills Sponsored and Co-sponsored
